Mariah Carey has announced via Twitter that the first single off her upcoming album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel is titled "Obsessed" & is set to be released to radio on Tuesday 3PM, June 16th (US Central Time). She describes the track as "an uptempo fun record" & "one of [her] favorite songs ever." For me, this is kinda unexpected, but pretty darn exciting! I hope "Obsessed" is for Memoirs what "Migrate" could have been for E=MC² (or even more!) & that Mariah receives the success she has always deserved!

Mariah’s new single “Obsessed will hit radio in less than two days and details about the song and video are popping up all over the internetz teasing fans – like me!

1. Mariah’s evil alter ego Bianca, who first appeared in the “Hearbreaker” video 10 years ago, may appear in the video.

Mariah allegedly told this to a fan via Twitter direct message.

2. The song just might be an Eminem diss record! The-Dream, who’s been working on Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel with MC, had this to say about “Obsessed” when he spoke to HipHopDX:

“I don’t think anybody is going to expect her to come out punching like she is going to come out… It’s going to light the blogs up too because you don’t know who she talking about, what she talking about, but she talking about something… somebody’s going to be very upset.”

Mariah added:

We are so conflicted about Mariah Carey, but one thing we're certain of is that she's simply bursting with amusing blog fodder. The most interesting tidbit to come about regarding MOAIA is that Mariah promises to deliver an album in the vein of Butterfly, which is easily one of her best. But then her collaborator The-Dream completely ruins it with this revelation:

If there's one thing we absolutely loved about Butterfly, it was the passive-aggressive responses to "haters". Oh wait, Butterfly didn't have any of that! So what could young Terious be talking about? HHDX suggests the target is Eminem who, even with Sacha Baron Cohen's package in his face, still manages to ruffle a few feathers. And is it possible that this fiery, upsetting, effing retarded record that will light up the blogs is "Obsessed"? We have a few more days to find out. On the upside, Mariah is working with Walter Afanasieff, who co-wrote some of her strongest ballads and hasn't been seen with Mariah since Glitter.

MARIAH CAREY REMIX PUTS THE "G IN GHETTO"

Mariah Carey is collaborating with Gucci, and this time, it's not on her designer ensemble. The superstar hinted that she recorded a remix to "Obsessed", the first single off her new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, with an unspecified rapper.
"Listening to 'Obsessed' remix on repeat, guest rapper, can't tell you who it is but he put the G in Ghetto," tweeted her friend Jasmine Dotiwala. "Sick combo-hotness." The special guest has been revealed as Gucci Mane.
In an interview with DJ Drama on Hot 107.9 in Atlanta, the ATL-raised MC confirmed that he was in the studio with Mariah and laid down a verse on the remix to "Obsessed". Gucci has a strong presence on the underground scene. His highest commercial-charting hit was "Freaky Gurl" off 2006's Hard to Kill.
The original version of "Obsessed" will premiere on Tuesday on Chicago's B96.
